Brandenburg presents Sounds of Spring with Southern Spirit Singers

The Brandenburg Festival is delighted to welcome the award-winning Southern Spirit Singers with their conductor Andy King to present a fresh and engaging programme including:

Founded in 2015 by conductor Andy King, Southern Spirit Singers is an award-winning chamber choir. The choir rehearses in London every few weeks, with the singers travelling from all over England to take part. 

The group performs a wide unaccompanied repertoire, in many styles and languages, ranging from early music to the present day. They have a particular interest in music by contemporary composers. Their debut digital album, First Light, featuring 21st-century works, was released in November 2022. The choir has enjoyed giving first performances of works by one of the members, composer George Montagu.Southern Spirit Singers tour regularly, including recent trips to Latvia (where they featured on national radio), Estonia and Sweden, as well as UK concerts outside London in Derbyshire, Yorkshire and Cambridge. 

The choir took part in London Oriana Choir’s Women Composer Festival at the Southbank Centre in July 2023. They were delighted to be four-times gold medalists in the European Choir Games and Grand Prix of Nations in Gothenburg in 2019, as well as overall winners of the Sacred Music category at Hull International Choir Competition in 2023.
